Guest Article: Protecting The Toads

On a rainy spring night in Pennsylvania, Carolyn Morris saw tiny toads in danger—and couldn’t look away. Armed with just a mug and her determination, she began what would become a yearly mission to help these overlooked creatures cross safely. What started as a spontaneous rescue turned into a heartfelt annual tradition—and a powerful reminder that anyone can be a hero for wildlife!

Cleanup Season Continues!

In May, I organized two cleanups with returning volunteers. We revisited familiar spots—the Cynwyd Trail in the Philadelphia suburbs, and streets near Charles River and Commons Park in beautiful downtown Boston—but focused on new and adjacent paths we had not tackled before. It made both efforts feel fresh and energizing. Sharing a few photos here—and as always, it was fun to be outside, making the world a tiny bit better together: one piece of litter at a time!

New Litter Grabber

I am thankful for the team at Waterhaul who sent us their latest litter grabber to review. Upon a first look, I have to say I am impressed. It is really sleek-looking, light, and easy to assemble. With foldable, portable design, the 33” long tool is partly made of traceable marine plastic, recovered from the UK coastline. I plan to use it over the next few weeks, and update our litter grabber review article, which remains remains our our most viewed and top ranked on Google searches. Yay!

Partners Update

Last but not least, we updated our Partners section by adding the Beach Bucket Foundation, the South Florida-based group highlighted in our last newsletter. Their Box O' Buckets® cleanup stations give beach goers and nature lovers the chance to give back while helping combat marine pollution. Also, they offer a unique philanthropic opportunity for local businesses seeking to engage with and support their communities. Overall, the Beach Bucket Foundation does amazing work, is in my view on a massive growth trajectory, and we are happy to be able to support Andy and his team.
